Wednesday Jazz Jam starts Jan 21 at Cabana Room

Not much jazz happening lately in Madison. It seems to get like this during the winter break and then pick up again once school is in. I was looking forward to the jam session beginning again next Wednesday but I hadn’t heard anything more. That didn’t seem good. Well, it’s not happening next week but at least it’s going to happen. Here’s the scoop from Dave Stoler:

It’s official!

The New Breed Quintet will begin hosting it’s weekly jam sessions at Samba Brazillian Grill in The Cabana Room beginning Wednesday, January 21st from 9pm-11:30pm. We look forward to seeing you! Stay tuned for further updates.

And Dave Cooper adds,

The New Breed quintet (David Cooper – trumpet, Patrick Breiner – sax, Dave Stoler – piano, Nick Moran – bass and Michael Brenneis – Drums) will begin an eight-week run at the Cabana Room underneath the Samba Grill, starting January 21.  We will be playing from 9-11:30 and the New Breed will play the first of three sets.  The latter two sets will be open for people to sit in.

The phrase “eight-week run” jumps out at me. At this point, it sounds very temporary compared to the Concourse jam which lasted so long it was hard to imagine it ever ending. Now it’s easy to see how fragile these things are. Let’s get out and support the jam session so it sticks around!
