You can travel the world and not find a nicer scene than downtown Madison on a night like tonight: a dry, warm breeze; friends gathered at tables; and the relaxing music of the Brian Lynch quintet at Jazz at Five. I just got home and feel good!
Someday I’ll learn to operate my new video camera, but in the meantime here’s a studio version of ” It Could Be”, a tune played tonight. I found this video while looking for information on the tenor player, Alex Hoffman. Alex has a warm, traditional tenor sound, a sound that I’m glad seems to be coming back in style. This video also features one of my favorite altoists, Vincent Herring. Vincent wasn’t there tonight (and Brian had a different rhythm section, too). That’s the only thing that kept the night from being perfect.
