This goes out to all local improvised music lovers, appreciators of the arts, and those who value FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION! Too few people are even aware of a very valuable and important resource available to EVERYONE right here in Madison – local access TV station WYOU. Similar to our highly-valued local listener-sponsored radio station, WORT, WYOU is the TV station equivalent – for the people, by the people – ALL PEOPLE – Madisonians, Dane Countyans, whomever. It’s a rare treasure that we’re in danger of losing.
WYOU is losing its funding (see Blog on www.wyou.org), and needs to create its own financial base to maintain operations. So they’re having their first

Today ’s article is not about the Madison jazz scene, but deserves your attention. As I’m sure you all know, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra(WCO) is in the midst of a prolonged labor dispute. Their concert originally scheduled for tonight was cancelled by the management. The WCO has responded by arranging to play a free concert instead.
The WCO is an important community resource that needs the support of everyone interested in the Madison arts scene. Show your support for the WCO musicians by attending tonight’s concert. Here are the details as they arrived in my email this morning:
—————————————-
The Musicians of the WCO will play a free concert on Friday, February 27th at 7:30pm. The program includes the Mozart Serenade for Wind Octet in c minor (kv. 388), the Mendelssohn a minor String Quartet (op. 13), and the Brahms A Major Serenade (op. 16). We invite you to join us for this celebration of chamber music at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4100 Nakoma Road, Madison. Free admission

The importance of your attendance can not be understated. I hope to see all of you there!
In Solidarity,
Liz
